A friend asked for a very girly cake for a little girl turning 4. I decided to do a doll dress cake cause I think they are adorable. I also did a couple cupcakes just to make sure there was cake for everyone. The flowers are fondant and the butterflies are made from royal icing.
Welcome and thank you for checking out my blog, I am very passionate about making cakes and I decided I wanted to create a place to display the cakes I am making and what I learn through out the process. Every time I make a cake I learn from my mistakes and every cake is a bit better then the last. Some day I hope to be just like Buddy on Cake Boss, surrounded by my family and doing the thing I love most. :)

Courtney's Wedding Cake
A friend of my friend, Tiffany, was getting married and wasn't too picky about what she wanted for her wedding cake. The wedding colors were yellow & silver. I found the picture of the inspiration cake on the left and Tiffany showed it to Courtney and she liked it so I worked from that picture. I didn't want to use the wire flowers cause it just seems bothersome to have to remove them all when serving the cake. I also used a lot more flowers. I made 120 flowers and all but 6 made it on to the cake and I probably could have found places for them, but I didn't want to go overboard.
Update: Courtney & Her husband posted new pictures of the cake at the wedding.

Fun Birthday Cakes
For the bf Jayme's Birthday I made him a chocolate poker chip cake. He loves poker so I knew he would love this. I wish I had painted the cards and birthday message before putting them on the cake, but it still turned out pretty darn cool.
Last year for my friends son's 16th birthday I decided to make a boob cake. Hes a teenage boy so how could he not like that. It was pretty amusing to see his face when he first saw the cake.

Welcoming the new addition to my family..
I got the most amazing christmas gift ever from my boyfriend Jayme! I have always wanted a Kitchenaid mixer and have never been able to afford one. It isn't easy making cakes without a mixer and at times I have to resort to buying frosting or driving to my moms to use hers. I am over the moon to finally have my own and it is the most adorable vintage pink. He has earned a lifetime of brownie points with this one.
Happy Bump-kin Party!
My friend Frankie was doing a harvest themed baby shower and wanted a realistic looking pumpkin. This is what I created. The leaves are fondant also. It was a fun cake and I'm very pleased with it.
Kesha's Shoe Cake
My Best friends sister, Kesha, loves shoes and so for her birthday she asked me to make a shoe cake. I decided to do a leopard print shoe laying on a shoe box with a piece of tissue paper. None of the pictures show the shoe box bottom to well. It was just a rectangular layer of cake in a peachy taupe color.
To get started I drew up what I wanted the shoe to look like and cut out that drawing. I laid it down on a piece of cake and traced it. I then was able to wrap it in fondant that I painted with a leopard design using food coloring.
I was pretty pleased with the results. Only thing I would have changed would doing some more finishing details.

Hunters Birthday Cake!
Every year I ask my little cousin what he wants for his birthday cake. This year he said "A Pirate Ship!" So that's what he got. We decided that fondant wouldn't be that great for a kids cake. I like fondant a lot only cause I'm still trying to learn how to get a really good smooth cover with butter cream. Mostly that is because I am short on frosting and don't have time to let the crumb coat set in the fridge. Here is the sketch I drew up and the final result. I loved the cupcake water and brown sugar island.
Summer Cakes!
The first cake of the summer that missed out on being posted was one I did for My Aunt Cheryl & Uncle Robert. They decided to do a hobbit birthday, at which the birthday guests receive gifts from the birthday person instead of giving them. I spoke with Cheryl about what they would like for the cake. Robert wanted chocolate cake and Cheryl wanted carrot cake. This gave me the idea of doing two sides of the cake. One side a grassy meadow (the carrot cake) and the other side a dirt field or garden (the chocolate cake) with a hobbit house connecting the two cakes. We stuck with a lighter green cause green food coloring is not good for furniture and also its not that pretty to have a green mouth, tongue and teeth. I wasn't exactly sure how much cake to make and decided it was better to have to much then to little. Here is the sketch I drew up
And this is the finished cake- as always I wish I could make cakes full time so I could have those extra few hour to do little details and clean up edges and such.
